Where coffee begins
We source our coffee through an independent local roaster here in Hampshire. They work with trusted importers and producers to select high-quality beans from established coffee-growing regions around the world. This gives us access to carefully sourced coffees while allowing us to focus on choosing blends that taste brilliant.
What is speciality coffee?
Â
Speciality coffee is the term used for high-quality coffee that scores 80 points or more on the Specialty Coffee Association’s 100-point scale.
Â
The score reflects the quality of the bean, including its flavour, aroma and overall cup profile. It also means the coffee has been carefully handled throughout its journey, from growing and harvesting to processing and roasting.
Â
A more considered approach
Â
High-quality coffee relies on skilled producers and the right growing conditions.
The beans used in our blends are sourced through supply chains that prioritise quality and greater traceability.
Â
Depending on the origin, the beans may be sourced through recognised certification schemes or from farms using methods that support soil health and the surrounding environment.
Â
The exact approach varies from coffee to coffee, but the aim remains to support responsible sourcing while protecting the quality and character of the beans.
Â
Why it matters
Â
More considered sourcing can help producers receive better and more stable returns for their crop, giving farms greater opportunity to invest in their people and future harvests.
Â
It can also encourage farming practices that protect natural habitats and reduce unnecessary environmental impact.
Â
For you, it means coffee with a clearer story behind it and quality you can taste in every cup.
Â
From the farm to our local roaster, every stage plays a part in creating the coffee that eventually arrives at your door.
